I went out with my best friend for some Sakae Sushi buffet today, and I decided to just slap on some lip make-up for the fun of it.
So, lo and behold, my first Lip Of The Day #LOTD!
(And a bit of a review... sort of.)
My naked, dry and chapped lips.
As you can see, I have kind of pigmented lips. And they are dry to the boot. What a total pain in the ass. Sometimes, when I'm not paying attention, I bite my lips and start peeling off the dry layers of skin, which eventually leaves my lips sore and bloody... But that's a different story.

In one of my previous posts
(here) I mentioned that the Miss Tangerine Sweet Shower Lips were rather "gloopy", and too sheer and too shimmery. Today, I would just like to take back everything I said.

The Sweet Shower Lips, though sheer, actually has a very nice colour. In the above image, I did not layer repeatedly. Yet the colour came out rather nicely. The Sweet Shower Lips aren't "gloopy", they are very moisturising. They made my lips feel soft and really moisturised and kissable
(for lack of a better description). Lastly, though I said it was too shimmery, it actually isn't that bad when you wear it. Just enough shimmers to give a girly touch without going overboard. It isn't that creamy or anything either! It's barely even there!

But because just one colour isn't enough, I dug out this baby from my stash of Etude House products.
As I've said before, I'm not too comfortable with wearing orange makeup, so I dabbed this on the inner parts of my lips to create a kind of soft gradient.

Not sure if I did it right, but I'm pretty okay with this look. Maybe next time I would try the VIP girl Dear Darling Lips on its own.
In terms of moisture, shimmers and colour, I
LOVE the Sweet Shower Lips.
In terms of how lasting it is... Mehh. I think you'd have to reapply it rather often. Like after a drink or something.
I know how lasting lip colours are is quite an important factor for some, but since my lips are pretty pigmented anyway, it doesn't bother me that much.
Overall, I give two thumbs up for Sweet Shower Lips.
On the other hand, I might have to try VIP girl Dear Darling Lips solo to decide more.

So the other day, I was going out for a bit, and I decided to try on some stuff of my Etude House haul.
Cos if I don't use them, they are just going to lie there and... well, just lie there.
I think the
LUCIDarling Over the Rainblusher comes in 3 shades, a highlighter shade, a pink blush, and an orange blush. I got
#01 Hawaiian Rainbow, the highlighter shade, since the only other colour available was #02 Cherry Couple Rainbow, the pink blush. And as much as I love pink, pink is not very flattering on my skin.
When I was choosing Hawaiian Rainbow, I was thinking that maybe I could maybe use it as a kind of nuance eyeshadow palette or something.
So without further ado, I present you the LUCIDarling Over the Rainblusher; #01 Hawaiian Rainbow.

The packaging is just like the rest of the LUCIDarling collection. The box is shiny, metallic, and almost reflective. I guess it was when Etude House was aiming for an older audience? The container itself is just as drab; Plain, nothing special. I guess the only "cute" point is the little plastic bow clasp.

The back of the box actually has some instructions on how to apply the highlighter, but it's in Korean. But the two pictures are pretty straightforward actually. Generally, it should be applied on the T-zone, apple of the cheeks and chin. It's supposed to give your face a healthy, dewy glow? (But I'm sure there are other products for that these days. BB enhancers or sorts.)

The highlighter is made of 5 colours, blue, red, orange, yellow, and green. It even comes with a mirror!

The differences of each colour isn't too distinct... even in real life. Sure there are the subtle differences, but not distinct enough to be visible if you wear it as eyeshadow. But, personally, my favourite shade is the green.

When mixed together, the swatch doesn't really have any colour, but seems to be purely made of shimmer.
After swatching, my fingers were covered in shimmers. In terms of shimmers, this highlighter is probably the winner. It's not easy to get these off either.
In summary, this highlighter is extremely shimmery, and may be difficult to remove. So you have to be very careful not to apply too much, or to apply wrongly.
I actually tried applying on my eyelids too, but the results were nothing fantastic. In fact, they were kind of terrible. One eye had more shimmer than the other, and I when I tried to remove the excess, the shimmers smudged and made my face a mess...
On top of that, I personally don't really like highlighters as I have oily combination skin, so I prefer matt finishes.
If you like shimmers, maybe you will like Over the Rainblusher. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

So for the past two days, I've been going out and I've caught The Croods and Warm Bodies in the cinemas.
I enjoyed both movies very much, so I decided to blog a
teeny tiny little bit on them.
SPOILER ALERT
The Croods
Initially, the whole idea of watching a bunch of caveman "discovering a new world" seemed pretty dumb and I was gonna pass, but hey, I'm a sucker for kids cartoons.

Firstly, I absolutely love the character design of the main character.
Eep is absolutely stunning, despite being a relatively large sized girl. I love how she comes across in the trailer as a passionate, wilful, strong and independent girl. To me, she is the evidence that women can be beautiful, even if they are plus-sized.
But she's a computer generated, animated cartoon character, so meh.
Her boyfriend, Guy, is a stark contrast to her father and her brother and the whole of her family for that matter. Guy is really your typical pretty boy, slim-to-medium sized built, and your must have tousled hair.
Now this movie made me cry. Like 3 times. In a row. Which is pretty annoying since it makes me feel stupid.
Grug, the father and the head of the family, is the protective papa who keeps the family safe and sound. His wife, Ugga, is a gentle woman who supports her husband from the side but is more rational than said husband. Thunk, the middle child and only son, is, in short, a dimwit. His thickheadedness frankly gets on my nerves, but thankfully he isn't that important a character really. Youngest daughter, Sandy, is like the chihuahua of the family. And Gran, the maternal grandmother who just wouldn't die.
There isn't really a "bad guy" in this movie, and the Croods family is pretty sweet and loving in their own way. I really connect with Grug as he sort of reminds me of my own father; Protective, sometimes to the point of being irrational, and completely outdated.
When Grug was separated from the family, I cried. I was wailing "Oh no he's gonna die!!!
But this is a kids movie. No one dies ever. At least, not on screen.
In summary... It's a pretty enjoyable movie, especially for kids. The little quirks of the cavemen and their relatable family arguments, I love it all.
However, the overall plot is mundane, bland, cliche.
Pretty much goes like this.
Girl live with family in a strict, un-fun lifestyle. Girl decides to break the rules by sneaking out at night. Girl meets boy.
This is not what it sounds like. Boy tells girl the world is ending. World "ends", forcing family to give up their strict, un-fun lifestyle. Power struggle between father and boy. Eventually, the whole family converts, thus helping them survive the end of the world and they live happily ever after.
Meh.
But don't let my opinions influence you. Go ahead and watch this show with a bunch of kids-at-heart friends. Or kids.

Warm Bodies
I watched this with my boyfriend. And our opinions differ greatly. In short, I was pretty cool with the movie, he thought it was a waste of time.

Zombies. Who doesn't love them really. The whole idea of walking around with blood all over your face and no one judging you for it, I think its pretty cool. Downside of it is that you're dead.
So the interesting twist here is that zombie boy R meets cute survivor girl Julie and that sparked something in him, and made him... come back alive?
Okay, so when you put it that way, it sounds pretty dumb.
But the cute thing of this movie is that you're in the head of R, listening to his thoughts. And surprisingly, they are pretty coherent and human.
The fun part of this movie is the interactions between R and Julie and R's thoughts. The way R seems fully, or rather vaguely fully, aware of his status as a zombie is cute. My personal favourite parts of the movie was when R introduced his "best friend"and when Julie changed out of her clothes.
Oh and the make up. Never forget the make up.
But is the movie worth watching in cinemas?
Mmmmmmm... no.
Wait for the TV premier. Or rent the movie. I guess it would be pretty fun to watch during an all-girls sleepover.
Boys... you might wanna pass this one. There just isn't enough action or boobies.
I'd rate this...
It really depends. This won't appeal to everyone.

So I was making my usual rounds at Watsons, thinking of whether to get more Majolica Majorca products since there was a 20%+5% off for members when I saw...
Now I'm not a big fan of Kanebo KATE's designs, but the
Kanebo KATE Magical Aurora Eyes eyeshadow palette really caught my eye.
The sleek, black design isn't quite my style. But packaging isn't everything.
My most favourite colour is probably
white. Naturally, this palette immediately got my attention
even though the tester was hidden and pretty unnoticeable.
Also, an all white palette is pretty... strange.. So I had to take a closer look.
On closer inspection, the palette is actually made of a
pale pink,
pale mint,
pale gold and matte, dark chocolate eyeshadows.
With Flash
I swatched the eyeshadows using the tester at Watsons because my heart breaks at the thought of using my own.
After swatching, the colours of the eyeshadow become more pronounced. Just like its name, the colours remind one of a magical aurora, changing colours and seemingly dancing.
It reminds me of faeries.
The brown is included in the palette to be used as a base, and to bring out the "aurora" colours. With the brown as a base, the "aurora" colours become more vivid.
I forgot to swatch the brown on its own, but it's a kind of dusty, powder. The powder is really soft and creates a smudgey effect easily.
However... I did notice that this palette reminds me of Majolica Majorca's Little Humming Book I palette. So I swatched that too.
With Flash
The two swatches are really very similar. With slight differences of course.
Majo uses a seemingly black but actually plum cream base, and instead of a gold shadow, it includes a lip gloss instead.
Now I know nothing about cream shadows, but personally, I think Majo's base is a tad bit too dark for me.
Just my personal preference. But maybe for others, they prefer the darker contrast? Admittedly, the darker base does create a nicer effect.
Also, comparing the two palettes, Kate's pink colour is lighter than the one in Majo's palette. In fact, I think it's more of a
purple, or lavender, than pink.
But these are really very slight differences.
Since I don't really use lipgloss,
at least, not in palette form, I decided to get the Kate Magical Aurora Eyes despite being a huge Majolica Majorca fan.
Overall, I think the Magical Aurora Eyes can be worn with or without the base.
Using the Aurora colours on their own would create a more "day-look", while using the base could create a more "night-look".
I suppose it's possible to use the brown base on its own as well... But it may be a bit too smudgey.

(here), recently, I had a huge haul from Etude House's Festive Sale and 50% Great Sale.
(Actually, on top of that, I have even more hauls from Etude House...)
I finally had the time to do actually get back to my haul (they are still in the plastic bag) and open them.
From my haul, I've decided to swatch the Miss Tangerine collection!
My three purchases of this collection are Miss Tangerine VIP girl Dear Darling Lips in OR205, Miss Tangerine LUCIDarling Fantastic Rouge in #12, and Miss Tangerine Sweet Shower Lips in #1 Shiny Pink Shower.
Firstly! Let's review the packaging! (And by packaging I mean box.)
I'm a huuuuge sucker of pretty packaging, and Etude House really impresses me with their
cutesy-girly style. The
Miss Tangerine collection is really refreshing as, obviously from its name, it sports a warm, peachy-orange theme. The
Tangerine word on the box is in a scarf or bandana style, and around it are... orange berries? I think those are meant to be tangerines, but I wouldn't know.
The overall theme still remains
cutesy and isn't too shocking, despite the orangey-ness of it
(for me anyway).
For me, I've never actually seen an orange lipstick. Etude is the first to promote such a lip colour. When I first saw the Miss Tangerine collection, I pretty much went "OMG who would wear that???"
Reality is ironic.
Either way, I've stuck to less orange toned lip colours in this collection.
Moving on to the swatches!

This colour is a milky peach. In a way I think it is safe to describe it as... a pastel nude?
Miss Tangerine LUCIDarling Fantastic Rouge in #12
Surprisingly, this was a bright, slightly cool pink. I was expecting a warmer colour since that was the vibe I got from the collection.

When I swatched this, the first thing that came into my mind was "
Gee this is pretty sheer." The second thing was "
Did my lip colour just melt and disintegrate on my hand?"
(You can actually see that the swatch is gloopy.)
I'm not too sure if I swatched too hard, or if the product is really meant to be so soft, or if I was just unlucky.
(Since this IS a discontinued product after all... It pretty much is old.)
Also, Sweet Shower Lips is glittery and shimmers.
Overall, VIP girl Dear Darling Lips OR205 is the
most orange colour amongst my purchases for this collection, LUCIDarling Fantastic Rouge #12 is the
pinkest and Sweet Shower Lips #1 Shiny Pink Shower is the most
sheer.
Despite my initial thoughts about the Sweet Shower Lips, I think it might be intentional, and that it would be an extremely moisturising product for the lips. However, the glitter or shimmers are pretty noticeable, and this could either be a good thing or a bad thing...
Well, I guess I'll only know when I actually try them out.
